Thursday, April 05, 2018

Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute organized an event ‘Irtiqa 18 – The Art of Revolution’ on March 30-31, 2018 by Naqsh Art Society at GIKI. It was an exuberant and gleeful event, which celebrates art in different spectrums of life and can be called as shift of paradigm. The most prestigious institutes of Pakistan participated in numerous art based competitions held from 30th March to 1st April.

A group of student representatives (Maryam Affaq, Rabia Wali, Noor Fatima, Mohammed Daniyal, Maria Kibitya, Hajra Ashfaq, Noreen, Rafiah and Momina) and faculty members (Ms. Aniqa Islam and Ms. Shaheem Imtiaz) from Department of Design, School of Textile and Design, University of Management and Technology, also participated in various competitions. Many creative activities included T-Shirt Design, Mixed Media, Illustration, and Theme Based Painting. Great designs came from interaction, conflict, argument, competition and debate among all the enthusiastic members. The students of UMT received the “Best Designer Award”, in the ethics group at the end of the occasion. Organizers of the event passed the candid concluding remarks to the aspiring wining participants of UMT, which warranted that it’s the best representation of design from School of Textile and Design, across the universities.

The trip is counted as a valuable learning experience for the students. Such events provide an opportunity for the students to be creatively engaged and challenged. Similar ventures are encouraged for the future.
